Velvet Remedy and Calamity alone by JetWave Velvet Remedy and Calamity alone by JetWave
Title says it all.

Yesterday, my brother sent me some music he had found. It was Vinyl Scratch from YouTube, which I've heard before (and subscribe to) but this was an older EP that I hadn't heard. It was absolutely beautiful, smooth and soothing. [link] great music to draw to! So, when I started on this one I decided to play around with different ways of drawing. I for once sketched carefully and precise, instead of hard and rough as I use to. Then I also tried a new way of doing line art (my brother have been bugging me for using the line art layers constantly) so now it's simply pen tool drags with a high stabilizer. Took longer than usual, but when I get use to it it will probably speed up. Either way, I'm very satisfied. Shading was pretty much the same though, except I tried to imagine were the light source actually came from for once. Sketched it yesterday and did the rest today.

And wings! They don't look like chips! :D (They did on my last Calamity. Don't even dare look at that thing)

Then of course, you have probably noticed that her head is dangerously close to his crotch. It's just an "in before cuddle" pic though. :) You can reach it trough my tumblr! (NSFW Version [link] )

Aww, that's adorable! The change to the lineart style really shows. It's much smoother and rounded, more buoyancy to the style, especially on Velvet. It's kinda nice seeing her more 'cute' feminine side from the usual 'lowered eyebrows, confident looking grown mare' we often see in art. Appropriate for a little snuggly moment with the one she loves and opens up to a little. As always, I love how you do her mane, always looks lovely. :)

I think the pillow could maybe have used something to denote the pressure of Calamity lying back though, it seems to just rest without any weight on it or shadow across it. I can see there is one, but I'd have thought it maybe could be sharper. But really, I'm critiquing the PILLOW in a great drawing of Calamity and Velvet in a way we rarely see them looking cute together. ^^

Thank you so much for your input! I always love how you make me smile with every comment but not only that, you also give useful criticism to think about in the future. For someone who doesn't draw any yourself, you have a good eye for detail.

No one else I showed it to before posting it noticed the pillow problem themselves (and not me either obviously). Maybe I could make you my pre-watcher or somethin'. :P

You hould see the sketches I send to Mech for any commissions or whatever. I think he -winces- upon viewing them. :p

One of my prereaders is always showing me her art and the 3D pony sandstone models she does (you may have seen on the tumblr) so I guess I learned about spotting things through that over the eight years I've known her. But thanks, I'm glad what I've said has felt like it's helped a lot. I've really enjoyed watching your artwork and from seeing you progress in your abilities.

I'd be happy to look at whatever you had for whatever reason. If you wanted a quick check on stuff just throw it at me. Email, tumblr message, Skype if it's easier to trade feedback. Whatever works for you on an informal basis. :p
